Experience report as an electronics technician for devices and systems
"In conclusion, I can only say that I am satisfied with my training here at Clausthal University of Technology and recommend it to anyone who enjoys tinkering, troubleshooting and solving problems." - Max
Max - 2nd year of apprenticeship
After I realized at business school that I wasn't very interested in studying, I quickly decided to do an apprenticeship. I came across the profession of electronics technician for devices and systems by chance. I've always enjoyed tinkering and practical tasks in general. My father is also an electronics technician, which gave me an early connection with the profession.
I'm glad that I'm doing my apprenticeship at Clausthal University of Technology, as the work here is very independent and varied. You have the opportunity to work on your own projects and gain insights into other professional fields, for example in the mechanics workshop. I have also been able to take part in some lectures so far. My tasks include maintaining and repairing equipment and preparing setups for students and lecturers. I therefore spend most of my time in my office in the electronics workshop at the Institute for Electrical Information Technology (IEI) together with my trainer and another colleague.
Vocational school takes place once a week, on Monday this school year. Vocational school 2 is located in Osterode am Harz, practically on my doorstep. We learn a lot of theoretical knowledge there and are given tasks that we then compare together. The class community is very pleasant.
In conclusion, I can only say that I am satisfied with my training here at Clausthal University of Technology and recommend it to anyone who enjoys tinkering, troubleshooting and solving problems. However, I would sometimes like to be able to work more with other trainees.
