Timo - 1st year of apprenticeship

I'm always in demand in IT service! From software problems to computer installations to simple uncertainties and account registrations, I get to experience everything up close.

It's not for nothing that the campus is advertised as being within walking distance of everything, because sometimes the customer is right down the street. This means that even I without a driver's license can be at any institute within 10 minutes without any problems, except in Goslar.

We have a branch in Goslar where someone is there every week. Once you've been trained, you're responsible for the entire building, which sometimes puts you to the test, but it's definitely the perfect exercise to get yourself organized. In an emergency, you can call your colleagues at any time. With around 40 people, we have an expert for every problem. I can go to them at any time and no one has ever hesitated to explain anything to me. In general, it's a pleasant working atmosphere.

The work itself looks like this: we have a ticket system where support requests come in and every job is documented so that another employee can take over the request. We can also be reached by phone. The telephone is probably the best way to learn what language laypeople can speak or how confusing technical vocabulary can be.

We also work on projects with the other trainees from various institutions and attend workshops several times a month.

I chose this position because I wanted to help and expand my knowledge first-hand. That's exactly what I get to do here - at the Clausthal University of Technology's computer center.
